Marine Junk Workshop

MARINE JUNK WORKSHOPS were a series of workshops with the younger children at the Kingscote campus.

The rubbish collected from their beach monitoring programme was employed to create murals and seascapes on plyboard which then formed a large mural on an outside wall on the campus.

This workshop was a part of the marine studies programme at KICE (Kangaroo Island Community Education) Kingscote Campus. The programme incorporated science and the arts through regular beach monitoring, data collection and education and art workshops. The students were involved in data collection of marine and plant species, monitoring water quality and doing bird counts as well as the collection and measuring of different types of rubbish found on the beaches.
